Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel said he's unsure if he'll participate in the NHL Skills Competition.
Jack Eichel was honored to be named to the NHL All-Star Game in Toronto.
It is his fourth time being named one of the NHL’s top players, and he looks forward to the opportunity to represent Vegas.
“The NHL always goes a good job with it,” Eiche said “It should be a nice weekend for my family and myself. I get to see some guys I know, and I’ll try to enjoy it.”
The last time Eichel was named an All-Star was in 2020 when he still a member of the Buffalo Sabres. He has two goals and six assist in his prior appearances.
In year’s past, Eichel has participated in the fastest skater competition. He’s finished in the top 4 every time he’s participated and finished second in 2019 to Connor McDavid.
“I’ve always done the fastest skater. I take a quick hot lap at the start of the thing, then I’m done for the night,” Eichel said. “It’s not always the most enjoyable one to do. You got to warm up a little bit and make sure you don’t yourself trying to skate your hardest.”

Eichel is unsure if he’ll participate in the skills competition, but is intrigued by the concept of winning a million dollars.
“I don’t know the format well enough to comment,” he said.”I don’t know if I’m a skills competition guy. Nowadays, some of the younger kids can do some crazy things and I have no idea how to do them. I’m not sure if that’s in my repertoire like guys are doing these days.
“If I’m involved in the skills competition, with a million dollars involved, I think it’ll make it competitive.”
As for who he said should join him for the weekend in Toronto, Eichel said that goalie Adin Hill and defenseman Shea Theodore were playing well enough to be candidates before they were injured.
But when it came to who should join him based on who’s not injured, he said Mark Stone should get the nod.
“Vote for ‘Stoney,'” Eichel said.
