    Winnipeg Jets re-sign 2019 First Round Pick, Ville Heinola to new two-year deal

    The Winnipeg Jets have re-signed defenceman Ville Heinola to a two-year, $800K contract extension. 

    Heinola was the Jets first round selection in the 2019 NHL Draft but has played for the majority of his time with the organization at the AHL level with the Manitoba Moose.

    Last season, the Finnish product finished with ten goals and 17 assists for 27 points in 41 games. He has the eighth-most points of any Moose defenceman with 102 across five seasons with the team.

    He has also represented Finland on numerous occasions and has helped his home country win a gold medal at the 2019 IIHF World Championships and a bronze medal at the 2021 tournament. Heinola has a goal and ten assists in 35 games with the Jets and should be competing for a last pairing role on the team next season.
