Cornell adds Colts prospect netminder Hagan Bach to the mix
Goaltender Hagan Bach has announced his NCAA hockey commitment to the Cornell Big Red.
Bach, a Niskayuna, New York native, is expected to return to the State of New York with Cornell in the 2028-29 season, the 17-year-old a potential contender for a spot in the OHL next season with the Barrie Colts.
The 17-year-old American was drafted by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2025 OHL Priority Selection, 82nd overall. Bach's USHL rights are owned by the Omaha Lancers, who selected him 57th in the 2025 USHL Futures Draft.
Bach spent last season in the Jr. A OJHL with the Collingwood Blues, appearing in 16 games with a 12-4-0 record along with a 2.25 GAA and .915 Sv%. Bach also appeared in a single game with the Colts.
Prior to moving to Ontario, Bach had been playing prep hockey with the renowed Shattuck-St. Mary's program in Minnesota, having grown up playing in his native New York.
With previous Colts starter Ben Hrebik headed to the NCAA for the upcoming season with Providence College, Barrie is expected to have one of their goaltending tandem filled out by backup Arvin Jaswal, with Bach a potential #2 option for the Colts next season.
One question for the Colts in net is the status of import selection Matvei Nikonovich, the Penguins fifth round draft pick in 2026 who has his rights owned by Barrie, but has not signed a deal with the club.
Another option in net is 2007-born Barrie native Nico Armellin, a netminder who's chance at a spot with the Colts may have improved with the club being recently purchased by Toronto Patriots owner John Careri, the team Armellin played for last season.
