The 5-foot-11 defender will join the Nittany Lions for the 2027-28 season.
As the summer rolls along, NCAA commitment season comes with it. As August begins on Saturday, we got our first big fish announcement of this cycle out of the OHL.
That fish is Ottawa 67's defenseman Kohyn Eshkawkogan, who announced via his Instagram his commitment to join Penn State University for the 2027-28 season.
Eshkawkogan, 17, just completed his second season in Ottawa after being made the 21st overall pick in the 2024 OHL draft.

(Photo: Robert Lefebvre/OHL Images)The Little Current, Ont., native had 53 (8+45) points in 68 games in what was a breakout 2025-26 season for him, quarterbacking a power play unit and really taking strides as a top-four blueliner on a very good team.
Eshkawkogan is a fantastic puck-mover and flashes some real offensive skill, while also being able to hold his own on the other side of the puck as well.
While a bit undersized at just 5-foot-11 and 183 pounds, he makes up for it with his smarts and understanding of the game. Currently, the former Manitoulin Panther is projected to go at or near the end of the first round of the 2027 NHL draft, but a lot can change in a season.
If Eshkawkogan can put up another sparkling campaign in the OHL, he'll likely join Penn State as a very highly-drafted prospect.
