Brampton has signed recently released Owen Sound forward Easton Mikus

The Brampton Steelheads have signed forward Easton Mikus to an OHL Scholarship and Development Agreement, the team announced.

Mikus, 19, was recently released back in August by the Owen Sound Attack alongside fellow forward Masen Wray, who was claimed off of waivers by the Barrie Colts.

Mikus was a fourth round pick of the Attack in the 2024 OHL Priority Selection, 69th overall. Mikus had four goals, seven assists, & 11 points in 54 games with Owen Sound this past season, having played 100 OHL games in his career, all with Owen Sound, with seven goals and 16 points.

The Steelheads had already been starting their preseason practices with Mikus skating alongside the team. Mikus has not yet played for Brampton this preseason.

The team's statement calls Mikus "a physical, two-way power forward, Mikus brings size and reliability to both ends of the ice". Mikus can play at both center and wing, adding versatility on the Steelheads bottom-six, where he looks to be a strong candidate for the Brampton fourth line.

The move is the second signing in as many days for the Steelheads to bolster their offensive group, having signed winger Jack Yates on Tuesday, like Mikus a candidate for the bottom-six.

While Yates is expected to bring offense to Brampton's lineup, necessary for a team that finished with the league's lowest goals scored last season, Mikus is a purely physical player who would add a layer of intensity to their depth chart.
