Although they prioritize reporting about what’s going on in the NHL, they recently had some OHL news that blew up, and not in a good way for one of the organizations.
On Feb. 11, via the Durham Radio News, the Oshawa Generals sent out an email to their season-ticket holders. In that email, personal hygiene was discussed. Your typical “If you’re feeling unwell, please stay home” was stated in there. However, there was another bullet point that caught everyone’s attention.
“If you went to the gym, or did something that produced body odor, please shower before attending the game.”
It has to be the first time ever that an organization has sent a memo out to its fans reminding them to shower.
This news blew up once PuckEmpire shared it across their socials. Many people were puzzled, confused, and hysterical about what had been reported. The hosts of TSN’s OverDrive, Bryan Hayes, Jamie McLellan, and Jeff O’Neil, had a field day with this report during their show on Thursday.
In the early evening on Thursday, the Generals posted to their official X account that they will be serving a two-minute minor penalty for their email. Fittingly, they are hoping to wash off this stinky moment.
As expected, the Generals organization apologized to their fans for their email, but it left quite an unpleasant stench for anyone looking to attend an Oshawa game going forward.
