Interim Head Coach Darren Rumble and Assistant Coach Sean Teakle won't return for Owen Sound

Owen Sound Attack GM Dale DeGray announced Friday morning that the team and Interim Head Coach Darren Rumble and Assistant Coach Sean Teakle won't return behind the bench for the 2024-25 season.
Rumble took over behind the bench after Owen Sound made a surprising firing of Head Coach at the time Greg Walters even though the team had started the season 4-2-1 and was coming off a 4-0 win. Walters was entering his third season behind the bench for the attack but had suffered back-to-back first-round playoff exits.
The OHL later suspended Walters for an inappropriate verbal altercation he had on the bench with another team employee. His suspension runs until Jun. 30, 2024.
In came Darren Rumble to salvage the season in Bayshore. He guided the Attack to a 25-28-8 record and the second-best powerplay in the league at the end of the regular season. Owen Sound was met with a challenging task in the first round of the OHL Playoffs having to face off against the Memorial Cup Hosts, Saginaw Spirit.
Saginaw took care of business, sweeping Owen Sound in four games and outscoring them 18-8. It has been reported that the decision to part ways with Rumble is so he can pursue other opportunities closer to home.
As per Greg Cowan of The Owen Sound Times, Attack GM Dale DeGray said over the phone, "I want to get back to our team identity, and I sit here and I say our team identity, but I want to get back to our community identity. That is basic blue-collar, hardworking, shift-in, shift-out play. That should be a given when you come into Owen Sound."
Sean Teakle served as an assistant coach for two seasons in Owen Sound.
