Peterborough is shaping up to compete, and now add a potential starter in goal.
As we delve deeper into the off-season, more teams are looking to add to their rosters.
The Peterborough Petes made a step towards that on Tuesday, adding American goaltender Owen Nelson from the USHL.
Nelson, 19, played last season with the Tri-City Storm after spending previous years in the Minnesota high school system.
The Wisconsin native put up a .909 save percentage, 2.92 goals-against average and 8-13-2 record behind a subpar Storm team last season.
With Easton Rye moving on to the NCAA, Peterborough needed another goalie, and they're hoping Nelson can be the one to give them some good starts in between the pipes.
With Vancouver Canucks first-round pick and import Adam Novotny expected to return for a second season and St. Louis Blues draft pick Luke Schairer joining the team this fall, the Petes are slated to have a pretty solid roster.
Now, they've added a goaltender that they desperately needed.
Nelson currently doesn't have an active NCAA commitment for the future, but a strong year in Peterborough could see schools come calling.
