The Quebecois defenseman will provide some size and meanness on Brantford's blue line.
It's been a summer of change for the Brantford Bulldogs after their all-in season, and they've gone back to the USHL well for a new signing on Thursday.
That signing is Jean-Samuel Daigeneault, a big and intensely physical blueliner who played this past season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the USHL.
Daigeneault, 18, had just five assists in 47 games with the Lumberjacks, but he's not joining the team to play offence.
Instead, the 6-foot-3, 190-pound blueliner is all about the physical and defensive game. He uses his big frame to throw bone-crushing hits, cross checks in front of the goal, and is overall just a nightmare to play against.
In a lot of ways, he's comparable to Owen Protz, a player who's expected to depart Brantford in favour of the AHL next season, making Daigeneault a like-for-like replacement.
The Saint-Michel, Que., native was a second-round pick of the Shawinigan Cataractes in the 2024 QMJHL draft, but never signed with the team, choosing to take the USHL route.
Now, he heads over to the OHL, looking to carve out a role on a Bulldogs blue line that will feature a lot of new names next season.
