The Colts came into game five needing a win in Brantford, and managed to sneak it out in overtime.

The Bobby Orr trophy remains in its case for now.

The Barrie Colts entered the Madhouse on Thursday night, and won a huge game five to keep the Eastern conference final and their season alive.

It was a back and forth affair that saw some top players score, and needed overtime to find a winner.

Here's how we got there.

The Eastern conference final will go at least six games.

Caleb Malholtra continued his monstrous playoff run with a first-period slapshot bomb for the Bulldogs, which held as the only goal of the opening frame.

In the second, the power plays for each side got to work, and the goal scorers were familiar names all around. Emil Hemming scored another big goal for the Colts, before Marek Vanacker gave the hosts the lead back.

They'd hold that 2-1 lead heading into the third period, just 20 minutes away from heading to the OHL final.

But, Barrie had other ideas. Two goals in just over two minutes in the middle of the third gave them their first lead of the night, through a pair of unlikely scorers in William Schneid and Jaiden Newton.

All of a sudden, it was Brantford on the ropes, though it wouldn't take long for Malholtra to step up again, scoring his league-leading 13th goal of the postseason to pull things level at 3-3.

Nothing else would separate the sides in regulation, meaning overtime was needed to break the tie.

It was Brad Gardiner, nearly 15 minutes into the extra frame, that broke the tie that kept his team's season alive. He fired a quick shot past Ryerson Leenders on what was a somewhat broken play, and that was all that was needed to extend the series.

Ben Hrebik was big again, making 34 saves in the victory.

Game six is Saturday night back in Barrie, with the Colts needing another big performance to push the series to a game seven.
