Six Ontario Hockey League players were announced for the USA's 2026 Hlinka Gretzky Cup preliminary squad
USA Hockey named six OHLers of the 36 invited to the team's selection camp for the 2026 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup in Edmonton, Alta.
The Americans invited forwards Gerry DiCunzolo, Sawyer Schmidt, Nolan Snyder, Michael Tang, and Ty Bergeron, along with goaltender Mason Courville.
Gerry DiCunzolo spent this past season with the Peterborough Petes with four goals, five assists, & nine points in 63 OHL games this season. DiCunzolo, however, has been expected to join the USA's U18 roster for next season, a move that has not been confirmed by the program.
Sawyer Schmidt, not eligible until the 2028 NHL Draft, split time between the OHL and Jr. A Buffalo Jr. Sabres, appearing in 25 OHL games with the Saginaw Spirit with two points. Schmidt also appeared in five games with the NTDP's U17 team.
Nolan Snyder had 16 goals, 17 assists, & 33 points in 68 games for the Kingston Frontenacs. The Pennsylavania native is a future commit of Penn State University for the 2028-29 NCAA season.
Michael Tang spent last season with the USHL Madison Capitals, appearing in 59 games with nine goals, 18 assists, & 27 points, appearing in five NTDP U17 teams, having recently signed with the Niagara IceDogs for next season.
Ty Bergeron signed with the Windsor Spitfires for 2026-27, having spent the previous season with the USHL Muskegon Lumberjacks, in 55 games scoring six goals and 20 points. Bergeron appeared in nine NTDP U17 games with two points.
Mason Courville appeared in 18 games with the Flint Firebirds, having an 8-8-2 record with a 3.06 GAA and .893 SV%. Courville also appeared in two GOHL games with the Waterloo Siskins.
Also named to the roster are OHL Draft Picks, forwards Luke Pietila Cayden Jackman, defensemen Jake Prunty, Caleb Deanovich, Thaddeus McMahon, Charlie Mineman, & Trevor Shorter, as well as Ontario-born WHL drafted prospect Brock Stevenson.
USA Hockey will hold selection camp between July 23rd-27th in St. Paul, Minnesota, deciding on the team's 23-man roster before the tournament's start on August 3rd, running until Aug. 8th.
