Over half of the remaining first round teams are facing elimination, with two returners from last game day, as well as three new teams.

    Blainville-Boisbriand Armada

Despite being the better team in the regular season, the Sherbrooke Phoenix seem to just have the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada's number in the playoffs. Over the last five years, the Phoenix have taken 14 of the two teams 18 total playoff games, and this year are up 3-1 in the series. Both the Armada and the Phoenix seem to have elite power plays this playoffs, and a troublesome penalty kill. So, for the Armada to try to swing the series back in their favour -- they'll need to stop taking as many penalties.

    Cape Breton Eagles

After getting 'goalied' to begin their series vs the Drakkar, the Eagles were able to break through with a 5-1 win. However, the success was shortlived as a 4-0 loss has now put them on the brink of elimination. As it stands, it's likely the Eagles will lose this series as their special teams are significantly better than the Drakkar's this series -- but just cannot seem to score as much 5 on 5.

    Acadie-Bathurst Titan

Once again, the Titan will face elimination tonight at home. They were able to just barely curb the Saguenéens from the sweep with a 2-1 victory on Wednesday with a 32 save performance by goaltender Joshua Fleming. The key to success depends on a dialed in Fleming -- but also an explosion of offense from their otherwise stagnant core.

    Val-d'Or Foreurs

In a battle of firepower, the Foreurs are coming out on the losing end so far in their series against the Shawinigan Cataractes. Interestingly, their power play has fallen off a cliff -- only hitting on 7.69 per cent this series. If they can get their powerplay going again, it's possible for the team to squeeze out another game or two. However, this series seems to be trending downwards for the Foreurs.

    Gatineau Olympiques

With an overtime thriller Wednesday, the Olympiques have delayed playoff elimination a little longer. However, it's doubtful that they'll be able to hold for much longer. An abysmal special teams this playoffs -- 6.25 per cent powerplay and 75 per cent penalty kill -- just won't be enough to upset a blisteringly hot and dialed Rouyn-Noranda Huskies team.
