    Last night's game notes

    Charlottetown (2) - Chicoutimi (4)

Chicoutimi came out on top, thanks to multi-point nights from import defenseman Peteris Bulans (0+2) and Emmanuel Vermette (0+2). Vermette was recently ranked by NHL central scouting as a two-time draft re-entry. Other notable 2025 eligibles who had strong nights on Chicoutimi included centerman Nathan Lecompte (1+1) and defenseman Alex Huang (0+1). Meanwhile, recently acquired overager Charles-Antoine Lavallee kept up his strong fresh start by adding a goal, bringing his season totals to three points (2+1) over his first two games this year.

Among Charlottetown's scorers was right winger Mathis Valente (2025 NHL Draft eligible), who scored his first QMJHL goal. Despite the loss, goaltender Nicholas Ruccia put up a valiant effort, stopping 27/30 for a flat .900 save percentage.

Drawing 3094 fans, Chicoutimi had the highest attendance figures of the night.

    Rimouski (4) - Val-d'Or (5) - SO

After already adding a goal and an assist, Val-d'Or's Nathan Baril ended up sealing the deal for the Foreurs as they overcome one of the league's toughest teams in the shootout. Overager Noah Reinhart tallied two points in his first game in the green and gold. The team also saw strong performances from other notables such as left winger Philippe Veilleux (1+1, 2025) and import defenseman Eduard Bondar (0+1, 2025).

In spite of the strong nights from Ducks prospect Alexandre Blais (1+2) and Vegas prospect Mathieu Cataford (1+2), the Océanic couldn't close it out as they blew a 4-2 lead in the third period and ultimately the game in the shootout.

Of note, the Foreurs only drew 1122 fans -- the second lowest single game attendance this season.

    Moncton (5) - Shawinigan (2)

The Wildcats remain a wagon as they take down Shawinigan in decisive fashion. Jacob Steinman -- who was already a strong goaltender before -- has turned it up a level this season. His 31 stops on 33 shots tonight was just routine. St. Louis Blues prospect left winger Juraj Pekarcik has finally started to pick up pace after a slow start to the season, adding three assists tonight and extending his four-game point streak to seven points. Meanwhile top 2025 draft eligible Caleb Desnoyers bounces back after two point-less nights with a two-goal game tonight, bringing his season totals to 12 points (5+7) over nine games.

The one real bright spot for Shawinigan was a two-point night for overager Louis-Philippe Fontaine (1+1).

    Drummondville (5) - Saint John (2)

Yesterday must have been opposite day, because after 12 games and 19 straight assists Drummondville captain Luke Woodworth has finally scored his first goal of the season. Meanwhile, fellow overager Sam Oliver added two goals, bringing his season totals to 13 goals across 14 games -- tied for the most in the league with Blainville's Jonathan Fauchon. The team also saw multi-point nights from Tampa prospect right winger Ethan Gauthier (1+1) and Buffalo defenseman Simon-Pier Brunet (0+2).

As for Saint John, things weren't ideal but there were some solid performances. Goaltender Justin Robinson was able to keep things relatively competitive by stopping 33/36. 2025 draft eligible Olivier Groulx also had a solid night with a goal and an assist. The Sea Dogs also got points out of Washington prospect Eriks Mateiko (1+0) and Blue Jackets prospect Tyler Peddle (0+1).

    Halifax (3) - Victoriaville (4)

Victoriaville rode a welcome 27-save performance from goaltender Gabriel D'Aigle to best a very strong Halifax Mooseheads team. Team captain and point leader Mael Lavigne was able to tally a goal and an assist in the game, bringing him to 20 points (8+12) over just 13 games.

Despite the loss for the Mooseheads, there was one thing the team could rally behind -- the first career goal of 17-year old left winger Patrick McNab.
