Armada's Goriunov Turns Pro, Joins Montreal Canadiens' System
Just a few days after Drummondville's goaltender Riley Mercer signed with the <a href="https://thn.com/ahl">AHL</a> affiliate of the <a href="https://thn.com/minnesota">Minnesota Wild</a>, the <a href="https://thn.com/montreal">Montreal Canadiens</a>' system have plucked a player of their own from the QMJHL.
Lavoie, 21, had spent five seasons in the OHL with the Mississauga Steelheads, Niagara IceDogs and the Brantford Bulldogs before finishing his junior career with the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada this season.
He netted five points (2+3) across 11 games with the Armada, missing a chunk of time after his January arrival due to injury.
With a successful, albeit inconsistent track record -- Lavoie could very well be the type of player to thrive in USports. Now with the ruling to allow major junior players to play NCAA hockey, he could end up on the radar of American scouts sooner rather than later.
