The Rimouski Océanic have continues their off-season rebuild, adding overage forward Luke Patterson from the Cape Breton Eagles in exchange for a 2026 sixth-round pick.
Patterson, 20, has spent the last four seasons in Cape Breton after the Nova Scotia club drafted him in the fourth round of the 2021 QMJHL draft.
The 6-foot-1 centre posted 28 (12+16) points in 64 games last season with the Eagles, equalling his career high from 2023-24 in four fewer games.

The addition of Patterson marks the second overage centre the Océanic have acquired in the past couple of weeks, as they previously added Emile Duquet in a trade with Chicoutimi. These two moves will help the Océanic replenish their overager cupboards after hosting the Memorial Cup last season.
As of now, Patterson does not have any NCAA or USports commitments for 2026-27.
Defenseman de Ladurantaye Dealt To Cape Breton For Pick
After a 47-game, 9-point rookie season in Gatineau, the Olympiques placed 17-year-old defenseman Jacob de Ladurantaye on loan to the Cape Breton Eagles for pre-season as he no longer fit in the Olympiques plans.
