The Gatineau Olympiques released in a press release that they have sent goaltender Caleb Shuker back to his Junior A team yesterday.
Shuker, 17, joined the team as a training camp invitee this pre-season earning himself a contract after playing parts of three pre-season games where he stopped 42/46 for a .905 save percentage.
However things quickly went to disorder for both the Olympiques and Shuker. The team sits in last place in the league.
2025 NHL Draft eligible Kian Hodgins has seemed to have found his stride, posting a respectable .886 save percentage over six games to start the season.
The same can't be said for Shuker nor Zach Pelletier who have had awful starts to their seasons.
Shuker lost all five of his games whilst maintaining a measly .848 save percentage. Meanwhile, the 18-year old Pelletier carried an .807 save percentage across five.
If not for Pelletier having been the team's starting goalie last season, he very well could have been the one on the hot seat, not Shuker.
It'll be interesting to see if the Olympiques continue to run a three goalie tandem with the new arrival of top U-18 AAA goalie Nathan St-Pierre, or if they have renewed confidence in their tandem from last season in Hodgins or Pelletier.
