Already, the 2025-26 season is shaping up to be a gamechanger for the QMJHL. First, there's the return of hockey in Newfoundland with the Regiment. Second, there's the first QMJHL top prospects game in September. Now, the league has just announced a new four team outdoor tournament in December.

Titled 'The 55 Cup', it will feature the Victoriaville TIgres, the Drummondville Voltigeurs, the Sherbrooke Phoenix and the Shawinigan Cataractes. The 10-day tournament will be played at a neutral site, the 7000 capacity Hippodrome race course in Trois-Rivieres.

Alongside QMJHL hockey, the event will feature hockey at numerous levels from USports to U18 AAA, as well as live music and an accompanying 'village'.

The event is set to kick off November 28th to December 7th and is expected to become a yearly tradition.
