Reece Peitzsche's overtime goal was the difference between these two star-studded sides.
Saturday hockey saw six games of QMJHL action across Eastern Canada.
There was a good mix of blowouts and close affairs, with the majority of eyes sat upon a clash in the Maritimes between the Cape Breton Eagles and Saint John Sea Dogs, two teams vying for top seeding in the East.

That being said, the start to the season hasn't been perfect for either side, with a few tight losses as they look to round into full chemistry, mainly due to a lot of players being gone at NHL camps.
But, everyone except Cape Breton's Maxim Schafer is back, and these two teams are hoping to be ready to land some heavyweight blows.
Saturday's meeting was a tense, back-and-forth affair, with the Sea Dogs landing the first blow after a big first period. Oliver Ozogany got things going early with his first QMJHL goal, before Thomas Charbonneau and Olivier Groulx made it 3-0 to the hosts by the intermission.
The Eagles then stormed back in the second, With Eliot L'Italien, Elias Schneider and Jacob Hartlin tallying to rally back to a 3-3 game. A late Alex Donovan power-play marker would give Saint John the lead back heading into the third, though.
The final frame was controlled by Cape Breton, knocking on the door for another equalizer. After a Matyas Cancik penalty, it was offseason acquisition Liam Lefebvre getting his first goal as an Eagle, tying the game a four apiece on the man advantage.
That score would hold through to the end of regulation, and overtime was needed to separate these two sides.
It was Reece Peitzsche, who has a thing for clutch goals, who won it for the road side, finally giving this highly-rated Cape Breton team their first win of the 2026-27 season.
Lucas Beckman made 21 saves to pick up his first win as an Eagle, and it seems as though things might be on the right track for the Nova Scotians.
