A dominant win from Val-d'Or sees them cement themselves as top contenders.

There was just one game on tap Wednesday night as the fifth week of QMJHL action begins, and it was not particularly a close one.

The Val-d'Or Foreurs came in hot, and absolutely obliterated the Charlottetown Islanders from minute 1-60.

This one was not a contest at all.

Val-d'Or started off hot, with Jordan Labelle scoring his first of the season just 2:09 into the first. Evan Sercerchi and Esteban Cinq-Mars followed with a pair of first career QMJHL goals, before Labelle doubled down and made it 4-0 at the end of the period.

While the shots in the first were even at 10-10, that was about it for Charlottetown putting any effort into this game. The Foreurs lead was extended to five in the second period, with Maxime Sauthier becoming the first player to the 10 goal mark in the 2026-27 QMJHL season.

Then, league leading point scorer Philippe Veilleux put his name on the scoresheet with a power play marker, extending the lead to 6-0, which would last through to the second intermission.

The final frame was more of the same. Veilleux scored on the power play again, before Sauthier also doubled down on the man advantage. Anthony Pare would make it nine, and the 10 spot was completed through Labelle's hat trick goal with just under two minutes to go in the game.

The shots were just as dominant as. the score was, ending 44-18 in favour of the visitors. Vincent Moreau picked up the easy shutout, while nine Foreurs players had multiple points, led of course by Veilleux with four (2+2).

The win puts Val-d'Or alone atop the Western conference, and they certainly look the part as a top-tier contender.
