Victoriaville acquires a new starter to try and keep the puck out.

A pretty important transaction on Tuedsay, with the Victoriaville Tigres acquiring overage goaltender Raphael Precourt from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens.

Going back the other way are two draft picks, a second-rounder in 2027 (MON) and a conditional fifth-rounder in 2028 (QUE).

Precourt, 20, has played very well behind a rebuilding Sags side this season, posting a 3-2-0 record, .916 save percentage and 2.84 goals-against average in his five appearances. His save percentage mark ranks him fourth in the league among qualified goalies, albeit in a still-small sample size.

The Tigres have been a very strong offensive team, with stars like Egor Shilov, Alexey Vlasov and Thomas Desruisseaux having a ton of success on the scoresheet. But, they've struggled to keep the puck out of their own net.

With 52 goals conceded in just 11 matches, Victoriaville has the second-worst goals against mark in the entire league.

While it would be unfair to pin this solely on the team's goaltending, the tandem of Anthony Catanzariti and Andrei Nikolayev have not been stellar, posting save percentages of .882 and .856, respectively.

The Tigres will hope the addition of a veteran in Precourt, who served as the backup on Chicoutimi's run to the Memorial Cup last year, will give them the experience and upgrade needed to help stop the bleeding in terms of goals against.

The team sits third in the Western conference with a 7-3-1 record (albeit, with one loss overturned to a win thanks to an ineligible Armada player), and could really cause some damage with their high-powered attack.

This also means Victoriaville will have to shed an overager, as they now have four with Precourt joining Desruisseaux, Matheo Lepage and Nathan Nadeau as 2006-born players. That corresponding move should be coming in the immediate future, though there's no information on what that may be as of now.

For Chicoutimi, the team continues to rebuild after going all-in for last year's championship season. The duo of Patriks Plumins and Justin Lee will likely serve as the tandem going forward.
