Green Bay Gambler Landon Hafele's season is off to great start with 22 points in the first half

As the United States Hockey League sits idle on the holiday break, now is a good time to look at how the first overall draft selection in the 2025 draft, Landon Hafele of the Green Bay Gamblers has played through the first half of the regular season.

Through 20 games played in Hafele’s first season in the USHL, the forward has posted seven goals and 15 assists, good for a tie for fifth most points on the first-place Gamblers. The Gamblers lead the USHL with 40 points, sitting one point ahead of the Muskegon Lumberjacks and the Youngstown Phantoms.

Coming in tied for fifth in total points at the holiday break on the Gamblers team that has scored the second most goals in the USHL is impressive for the Alaska native. The forward has played less games than the four skaters ahead of him, after missing time in November with an injury.

Upon completion of the 2025-26 season in Green Bay, Hafele is taking his talents to the desert, committing to furthering his hockey career with the Sun Devils at Arizona State University. Hafele was part of the USA Hockey National Development Program for the previous two seasons, seeing his numbers improve each year. In 2023-24, Hafele posted one goal and five assists in 30 games, then followed that up with seven goals and five assists in 2024-25. Hafele is on pace to post 50-60 points in his lone season in the USHL.

Hafele, along with Gamblers’ head coach Patrick McCadden, forward Gunnar Conboy and defenceman Maceo Phillips, were recently a part of the USA team that captured gold in Quebec at the World Junior A Challenge for the second straight year. Over the five games played, Hafele posted one assist.

Hafele will return to action with the Gamblers on Dec. 27, as the Gamblers head to Dubuque to take on the Saints, before closing out 2025 with two home games, first against the Saints, then on New Years Eve against the Madison Capitals.
