Vegas draft pick Lucas Van Vliet has a three-game point streak and joined Dylan Compton and Jack Parsons on the USHL weekly awards
The USHL announced its Players of the Week on Monday as Dubuque forward Lucas Van Vliet, Waterloo defenseman Dylan Compton and Chicago goaltender Jack Parsons took home the respective honors for games played between Feb. 3-9, 2025.
Van Vliet, a seventh-round pick of the Vegas Golden Knights (2024), had three goals and two assists last week as Dubuque went 2-1-0.
Van Vliet scored twice in Wednesday’s win over Cedar Rapids and had two assists on Friday, followed by another goal on Saturday. Dubuque defeated Waterloo on Friday, 3-2, but fell at Madison on Saturday, 4-3. However, Dubuque (29-12-0-1) remains atop the Eastern Conference with 59 points.
Van Vliet has 15 goals and 28 points through 36 games this season after spending the past two years at the NTDP. The Michigan native is a Michigan State commit.
As for Compton, the Northeastern commit led all USHL defensemen with three points last week as Waterloo split its two games. Compton had an assist in that above-mentioned loss at Dubuque and had two helpers in Saturday’s 5-3 win over Youngstown.
Compton also finished the weekend a plus-1 and is a plus-4 through 41 games this season. The three assists also give Compton 30 points (2-28-30), which ranks third among USHL defensemen.
Rounding out the group is Parsons, who was also named the USHL’s Goalie of the Week last Monday. Parsons made 77 of 81 possible saves this past weekend as Chicago earned a pair of road wins.
Parsons made 35 saves on Friday in a 4-3 win (OT) at Madison and 43 more in Saturday’s 2-1 win at Green Bay. His 1.99 GAA and .951 save percentage both led USHL goalies last weekend and the New York native owns a 3.53 GAA and .904 save percentage on the season.
Chicago remains seventh in the Eastern Conference at 11-23-1-2. However, the Steel have won four straight, own a five-game point streak (4-0-1) and are just eight points out of a playoff spot.
