The WHL is set to play a big role in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Leading up to the draft, we at The Hockey News will be profiling some of the players who are projected to hear their names called at the end of June. Today's prospect is forward Lynden Lakovic, who plays for the Moose jaw Warriors.

Lakovic's production exploded during the 2024-25 season, reaching 27 goals and 31 assists in 47 games; an increase of 19 points, in 21 fewer games. The Kelowna native has also taken on some added responsibility, as he was named the Warriors captain on February 14.

As a player, Lakovic has many valuable assets. At one point in his WHL career, he was looked upon for finishing scoring chances and getting pucks toward the net with a quick and accurate snapshot that solved goaltenders everywhere. Now, the projected first-round talent still has that shot but has since deferred to creating offense as opposed to finishing it.

His vision is among the best in the class, with multiple ways to get into and out of any situation he may find himself. On a struggling Warriors team, Lakovic was leaned on heavily and he's come through in a big way. Pair all this with a six-foot-three frame, and you have a dangerous player with a pro future.

However, similar to Eastern conference counterpart Roger McQueen, Lakovic also missed considerable time with injury. This didn't seem to faze him; Over nine games in March, the Moose Jaw captain found the scoresheet in eight of those games and recorded 13 points.

Whichever team selects Lakovic at the NHL draft on June 27 will be very pleased that they did.
