The WHL is set to play a big role in the 2025 NHL Entry Draft. Leading up to the draft, we at The Hockey News will be profiling some of the players who are projected to hear their names called at the end of June. Today's prospect is forward Carter Bear, who plays for the Everett Silvertips.

Bear enters the draft as one of the best forwards available. Listed at 6'0", 179 lbs, the Silvertips left winger was unstoppable in 2024-25, scoring 40 goals and recording 82 points in 56 games. A leader on the ice, Bear is a two-way force who appears to have a never-ending motor.

There are few players available in this draft who are as versatile in the offensive zone as Bear. He is an elite playmaker and can beat goaltenders from anywhere in the zone. Bear also understands where he needs to be to have the biggest impact, as he often elects to get pucks to high-danger areas before testing the opposing goalie.

Bear has also developed into one of top defensive forwards in the WHL. He has a very active stick, which allows him to sweep pucks away from the opposition. Bear also has great timing, as he can intercept passes along the blue line which he turns into scoring chances.

The big question when it comes to Bear is health. He partially tore his right Achilles tendon in March, which kept him out of the 2025 WHL Playoffs. While he is expected to be ready for Training Camp in September, there will be some concern about his skating and whether or not the injury will impact his ability to move around the ice in the future.

In the end, Bear is a can't miss prospect who could be a top-15 pick in this year's draft. He is dynamic at both ends of the ice and is a player whose effort level is unquestionable. If Bear continues to trend the way he is, he could be an impactful top-six player in the NHL.
