
All 16 teams were in action on Day 2 of the 2024 WHL Playoffs.

Friday night saw all 16 teams in action as the 2024 WHL Playoffs entered its second day. Mar. 29 featured seven series starting while the Saskatoon Blades and Prince Albert Raiders continued their series into Game 2. Here is a recap of all eight games.
Saskatoon Blades 4, Prince Albert Raiders 1
Series: Tied 1-1
After dropping Game 1, the Saskatoon Blades evened their series with the Prince Albert Raiders, winning Game 2 by a score of 4-1. Evan Gardner was the story for the Blades as he stopped 31 of the 32 shots faced in his WHL Playoffs debut. As for Saskatoon, they were led by Easton Armstrong and Egor Sidorov who each had a goal and an assist. The two teams will get a few days off before the series moves to Prince Albert, with Game 3 scheduled for Tuesday.
Swift Current Broncos 3, Lethbridge Hurricanes 0
Series: Swift Current Leads 1-0
The Swift Current Broncos started the postseason strong, shutting out the Lethbridge Hurricanes 3-0 in Game 1. Reid Dyck was perfect in his playoffs debut, stopping all 33 shots he faced. Led by Clarke Caswell's goal and an assist, Swift Current picks up a win in the postseason for the first time since 2018.
Moose Jaw Warriors 7, Brandon Wheat Kings 4
Series: Moose Jaw Leads 1-0
Over in Moose Jaw, the Warriors hung seven on the Brandon Wheat Kings en route to a 7-4 victory. For Moose Jaw, Martin Rysavy led the way with two goals and an assist, while Brayden Schuurman scored twice in the victory. As for Brandon, Jayden Wiens scored twice, while captain Brett Hyland had an assist on all four Wheat Kings goals in the loss.
Red Deer Rebels 5, Medicine Hat Tigers 4 (2nd OT)
Series: Red Deer Leads 1-0
In what may have been the most exciting game in the East, the Red Deer Rebels came back from a 4-0 deficit to beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 5-4 in double overtime. Kalan Lind was the hero as he beat Ethan McCallum 1:15 into the second overtime. Lind, who finished the game with three points, also assisted on Ollie Josephson's game-tying goal late in the third that forced the game into overtime. As for standouts from the Tigers, Hunter St. Martin had two assists, while Cayden Lindstrom recorded an assist and six shots on net in his first game since Dec. 16, 2023.

Prince George Cougars 6, Spokane Chiefs 1
Series: Prince George Leads 1-0
Despite giving up the first goal, the Prince George Cougars cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Spokane Chiefs in Game 1. Terik Parascak led the way with a hat trick, while Ondrej Becher, Zac Funk and Riley Heidt all recorded multi-point games. As for Spokane, Conner Roulette scored their only goal, while Dawson Cowen made 45 saves in the loss.
Portland Winterhawks 4, Victoria Royals 3
Series: Portland Leads 1-0
The Portland Winterhawks scored three goals in the third period en route to a 4-3 victory over the Victoria Royals. Luca Cagnoni scored twice, including the winner while James Stefan and Nate Danielson each recorded two assists on the night. For Victoria, Braden Holt was solid in net, stopping 30 of the 34 shots he faced, while Justin Kipkie led the way offensively with two assists.
Vancouver Giants 6, Everett Silvertips 4
Series: Vancouver Leads 1-0
Just like in 2022, the Vancouver Giants defeated the Everett Silvertips in Game 1, this time by a score of 6-4. Cameron Schmidt was electric in his first WHL Playoff game, leading the way with two goals on two shots. Vancouver also received multi-point games from Jaden Lipinski, Ty Halaburda and Mazden Leslie, while Brett Mirwald was a rock in the net, stopping 38 of 42 shots. As for the Silvertips, they were led by Ben Hemmerling, who scored twice and Kaden Hammel, who scored a goal and recorded five shots.
Wenatchee Wild 8, Kelowna Rockets 6
Series: Wenatchee Leads 1-0
The wildest game of the night was easily the Wenatchee Wild's 8-6 victory over the Kelowna Rockets. Briley Wood led the way for the Wild with four goals and six points, while Kenta Isogai, Graham Sward and Karter Prosofsky each recorded 3+ point nights. Over on the Rockets side, Tij Iginla exploded with a hat trick while five players, including Andrew Cristall, finished with multi-point nights.
