Plenty of star power was on display during a pair of Wednesday WHL contests.

Well, that's one way to get through the last stretch of hump day.

Wednesday in the WHL saw a couple of great matchups, both of them close, and with them came a pair of highlight reel goals.

Riley Heidt and Terik Parascak lift Prince George past Kelowna

Watch this, then watch it a second time.

Heidt (Minnesota Wild) and Parascak (Washington Capitals) combined for six points in the Cougars' 5-2 win over the Kelowna Rockets, the above video being the tying goal and the first of four unanswered. Recently appointed captain, Heidt began his 2024-25 campaign with a bang, slipping a through the legs pass to a streaking Parascak. In addition to Prince George's hot start, Rockets forward and Utah Hockey Club prospect Tij Iginla scored his first goal of the season, driving to the net and beating Joshua Ravensbergen.

Battle of the youth at the Saddledome

The other game on Wednesday night had the Saskatoon Blades heading to Calgary to take on the Hitmen. Keets Fawcett (2006) fed Oliver Tulk to open the scoring, and 2027 NHL Draft prospect Rylan Ng made a slick move to pot his first WHL goal and put the Hitmen up two heading into the middle frame. From there, it was mostly Saskatoon; Cooper Williams (2008) finishes off a Hudson Kibblewhite pass, and veteran Grayden Siepmann completes a pretty give and go from Ben Riche. Fawcett would get a goal of his own to retake the lead but Kibblewhite (2007) had other plans.

Rowan Calvert and William James added one each, and the Blades took the victory by a score of 5-3.
