For the first time since 2007, the Medicine Hat Tigers are Memorial Cup-bound. While Medicine Hat has a stacked team full of talent, the 2025 Memorial Cup will be filled with powerhouse teams who have had very impressive playoff runs of their own. One of those teams is the Moncton Wildcats, who will represent the QMJHL this year.
For the first time since 2010, Moncton is headed to the Memorial Cup. The Wildcats had an impressive playoff run, going 16-3 while knocking off the Rimouski Océanic in the QMJHL Final. A team loaded with talent, Moncton was able to grind down opponents, only allowing an average of 2.6 goals per game throughout the post-season.

The Wildcats have built a deep squad with plenty of NHL-drafted talent. St. Louis Blues prospect Juraj Pekarcik had nine goals and 21 points during their playoff run, while Calgary Flames defensive prospect Étienne Morin was a rock on the blue line. Their star, however, is 2025 NHL Draft prospect Caleb Desnoyers, who should be a top-10 pick at the end of June.
Moncton's ability to score on the power play is why they are bound for the Memorial Cup. The Wildcats finished the post-season with a 28.8% power play, cashing in 19 times with the man advantage. If the Medicine Hat Tigers are going to take down the QMJHL champions, they need to stay out of the box, as Moncton has made their opposition pay for penalties throughout the playoffs.
Another reason why the Wildcats have been so successful is depth scoring. Over their 19 post-season games, nine players had at least 10 points, while seven scored at least five times. If Moncton's depth can continue to step up, they will have a good shot at winning the Memorial Cup.
The Wildcats are a deep team that could cause the Tigers some problems on May 26. They are a big team who thrive on special teams and have dominated the faceoff dot on a nightly basis. In the end, Moncton has the pieces to go on a run in this tournament as the Wildcats will be looking for their first Memorial Cup in franchise history.
