Welcome to this edition of the 2026 WHL Prospect Pools. Throughout the 2026 off-season, we will be looking at current or recently graduated WHLers who have been drafted or signed by NHL clubs. Today's organization is the Ottawa Senators.
The Ottawa Senators did not select any players from the WHL in the 2026 NHL Draft. But, they have one current WHL prospect in their system and that's Blake Vanek.
Selected in the third round (93rd overall) of the 2025 NHL Draft, Vanek split his 2025-26 campaign between two WHL clubs. The winger began the season with the Wenatchee Wild, registering 18 points (8 goals, 10 assists) in 37 games, before being acquired by the Calgary Hitmen. Following the mid-season trade, Vanek posted another 18 points (7 goals, 11 assists) in 32 games for Calgary, bringing his draft-plus-one season total to 36 points across 69 games.
