The Prince George Cougars have named Riley Heidt their captain for the 2024-25 season. The Minnesota Wild prospect has spent his entire WHL career in Prince George and is the franchise's all-time leader in assists and points. Joining Heidt as part of the Cougars leadership team are Bauer Dumanski, Borya Valis, and Carlin Dezainde, who will all wear A's throughout the season.
Heidt is coming off a phenomenal season, which saw him record 117 points in 68 games. His 80 assists set a new franchise record, while his 19 playoff points were tied for fifth all-time in Cougars history. Thanks to Heidt's strong season, Prince George captured just their second B.C. Division title in franchise history while making it all the way to the Western Conference Final for the first time since 2007.
Now in his fifth season, Hedit has the chance to become the 28th player since 2000-01 to record 300 points in the WHL. Currently sitting at 280, he could hit the milestone this month as the Cougars play 12 games in November. Hedit will also be a name to watch for Team Canada's World Junior Team, as he was part of the Summer Showcase roster in July.
