The Regina Pats have won the 2025 WHL Draft Lottery. Regina had the second-best odds heading into the draft but had luck on their side, jumping up to first overall. The Pats are expected to select forward Maddox Schultz first overall, who had 93 points in 44 regular season games with the Regina Pat Canadians U18 AAA this season.
This is Regina's second WHL Draft Lottery win in the last five years. The Pats also won in 2020 and had the opportunity to select Connor Bedard. The 2023 first overall pick in the NHL Draft recorded 271 points in 134 games with Regina and was named CHL Player of the Year in 2023.
As for the rest of the draft, the Edmonton Oil Kings will have the second pick while the Kelowna Rockets will pick third. The WHL's newest team, the Penticton Vees, will pick fourth while the Everett Silvertips round out the top five. Picking sixth will be the Vancouver Giants, while the Red Deer Rebels will pick seventh overall.
