The Seattle Kraken prospect becomes the 37th captain in franchise history.

The Spokane Chiefs have named Berkly Catton their new captain for the 2024-25 season. Catton, who was drafted eighth overall by the Seattle Kraken in 2024, is the 37th captain in franchise history and joins a long list that includes Ty Smith, Jared Cowen, and Jaret Anderson-Dolan.
In the press release, Head Coach Brad Lauer was quoted as saying, "Selecting a team captain is something we take very seriously, and with how Berkly has grown and matured as a player combined with how he conducts himself both on and off the ice makes him a perfect fit. He’s a quality person and how he handles himself is a perfect example of what we think represents a leader for our organization."
Last season, Catton put up a career-high 116 points in 68 games. He was also the captain of Team Canada's Gold Medal Hlinka Gretzky Cup-winning team in 2023 and was part of Team Canada's Summer Showcase roster during the offseason. Now in his fourth year with the Cheifs, Catton has played in 141 career WHL games and sits 44th all-time in franchise history with 176 points.
