Zach Zahara is headed back to the Medicine Hat Tigers.
The Medicine Hat Tigers and Wenatchee Wild pulled off the rare reverse trade on Thursday. After moving goaltender Zach Zahara to Wenatchee back in October, Medicine Hat re-acquired the 19-year-old in exchange for the same 2027 fourth-round pick they acquired in the initial trade. The only difference between the two trades is that Wenatchee included a 2025 eight-round pick in the original deal, while the most recent one was just for one draft pick.
During his short stint with the Wild, Zahara posted a record of 3-7-0, with a .884 save percentage in 11 games. His best performance of the season came on November 30, when he stopped 38 of 40 shots in a 5-2 win over the Tri-City Americans. After a tough start to the season, Zahara did win two of his final four games with Wenatchee, making at least 30 saves in his last two starts.
Zahara's return to the Tigers means that Medicine Hat will have three goaltenders on its roster, at least for now. Since being acquired at the start of the season, Harrison Meneghin has taken over as the starter, while Jordan Switzer has served as the backup. The Tigers are set to play three games in three nights this weekend, and more information about their goaltending is expected soon.
