Looking at one player from each Eastern Conference series who stood out during the opening weekend of the 2024 WHL Playoffs.

The 2024 WHL Playoffs are officially underway, with plenty of exciting moments already taking place on the Eastern Conference side of the bracket. This past weekend also featured stand-out performances as players up their games in anticipation of a long playoff run. Here is a look at one player from each Eastern Conference series that stood out this weekend.
Reid Dyck- Swift Current Broncos
Reid Dyck was a rock in net for the Swift Current Broncos during their first two games of the playoffs. The Boston Bruins prospect stopped 62 of 65 shots he faced, which included posting his first career WHL postseason shutout in Game 1. Currently holding a 2-0 series lead versus the Lethbridge Hurricanes, he will need to be sharp if the Broncos want to pull off a first-round sweep and be the first team to advance to the second round.
Egor Sidorov- Saskatoon Blades
As he has all season, Egor Sidorov delivered some timely goals for the Saskatoon Blades. The Anaheim Ducks' prospect scored three times over his team's first two games, which included scoring a power play goal each night. With 17 shots on goal so far in the playoffs, it is safe to say he is ready to do whatever it takes to help the Blades defeat the Prince Albert Raiders in their first-round matchup.
Gavin McKenna- Medicine Hat Tigers
Based on his play, it is hard to believe that Gavin McKenna is still only 16 years old. McKenna scored in each of the first two games of the series and currently leads the Medicine Hat Tigers in scoring with two goals and four points. The 2026 NHL Draft prospect is putting on a show as he looks to help the Tigers get past the Red Deer Rebels and make it to the second round for the first time since 2017.
Atley Calvert- Moose Jaw Warriors
Atley Calvert is having a solid start to the playoffs. He had three points for the Moose Jaw Warriors in Game 2 while also going 11 for 18 in the faceoff dot so far in the series. One of the league's most underrated players, expect him to have a special playoff run in what is his last WHL season.
