The first leg of the 2025-26 women's Euro Hockey Tour is set to drop the puck on August 28 in Kloten, Switzerland.

Here's a team-by-team look at players to watch in this tournament for each nation.

    Swedish Players To Watch

Plenty of PWHL fans will be interested in seeing how Lina Ljungblom, Sara Hjalmarsson, and Anna Kjellbin open their campaign, as well as how Emma Soderberg begins her new chapter in Europe.

In terms of Sweden's Olympic roster, there's a trio of players who will look to crack the national team roster worth watching. On the blueline Hockey East All-Rookie Team member Tuva Kandell was spectacular with Northeastern in her first season in North America. A former U-18 World Championship Best Defender, Kandell would be an upgrade on their blueline at Worlds. Up front Edit Danielsson and Nicole Hall are a young pair that should draw consideration for the Olympics. Danielsson has been one of Sweden's best up and coming forwards for years, but had a breakout performance at the U-18 Worlds this year and was the top scoring U-18 player in the SDHL this season. Hall is a 200-foot player who is entering her second season with Penn State. You could see her play take strides with each game last season.

    Swiss Players To Watch

Switzerland is fielding a strong roster for the event. One young player to watch is defender Laure Mériguet, who if she's taken another step this offseason since Worlds, could begin to have an impact. Nicole Vallario will look to continue her climb on Switzerland's blueline after a strong World tournament as well. The biggest watch alert for the Swiss is to see who can step up and score beyond Alina Muller and Lara Stalder. Rahel Enzler showed potential in that category, and Ivana Wey continues to improve. In net, Andrea Brändli will look to pick up where she left off establishing herself as the top pro goalie outside the PWHL. Speaking of PWHL fans, Boston Fleet fans will look to see a healthy Alina Muller kick off this season strong because they'll need every bit of offense they can find as a team.

    Finnish Players To Watch

Perhaps the weakest point of Finland's roster at the 2025 World Championships was their blueline, so it's no surprise there will be new competition on the back end. Veteran Sini Karjalainen is back in the mix and would be a good addition.

Finland will also have eyes on young blueliners Tuuli Tallinen and Nella Berg. Tallinen was Finland's captain of their U-18 national team and a U-18 All-Star. Tallinen is perhaps the next best thing on Finland's blueline. Up front, Finland is deep and veteran laden. If any player can steal a spot up front, Oona Havana and Sofia Nuutinen are the players to watch.

The initial tournament will feature Czechia, Sweden, Finland, and host Switzerland.

    Czech Players To Watch

15-year-old Klára Šrámková is the youngest player at the competition and while she won't crack Czechia's Olympic roster, is another example of the young talent the nation continues to produce. In fact, it is Czechia's youth at all positions worth watching at this tournament including 5-foot-10 18-year-old blueliner Adéla Fromová, Boston University rookie Anežka Čabelová, Colgate commit Linda Vocetková and 18-year-old forward Barbora Juřickova. It's the first wave of Czechia's next generation, and if one or more of these players cracks Czechia's lineup for the Olympics, it's a positive sign for the nation.

The other positional battle to watch is in net where the gap between incumbent starter Klára Peslarová and second-year Dartmouth netminder Michaela Hesová, who is still only 19, has closed significantly.
