The Hungarian National Team head coach brings a wealth of international experience and a winning resume behind the bench.

The Vancouver Goldeneyes have added international experience and a winning resume behind the bench, as the organization announced Thursday the hiring of former Canadian National Team defender Delaney Collins as an assistant coach.

“It is a privilege to join the Vancouver Goldeneyes as we head into our second season,” said Collins, via team release. “I’m most excited about the potential of this group of players and the culture that has already been established in Vancouver. Cara will set a high standard from day one, and I look forward to working closely with her and our entire staff as we continue building on the energy and support this team has received.

The Pilot Mound, MB, native has more than 15 years of experience coaching at the NCAA and international level, as well as experience working with Goldeneyes' goaltender Kristen Campbell and defender Ashton Bell during her time as an assistant coach with Canada's U18 program.

“We’re so excited to have Delaney join the Goldeneyes coaching staff,” said Head Coach Cara Gardner Morey. “She brings a wealth of knowledge with her experience as an elite defender with the Canadian National Women’s Team and is an extremely creative coach who has worked with national programs in Canada, the United States and Hungary. She is no stranger to finding success on the ice, and we can’t wait to get started on this season together.”

As a player, Collins won national championships with the Concordia Stingers (1998) and the University of Alberta Pandas (2004), where she assisted on Danielle Bourgeois's game-winning goal. During her tenure, the Pandas went 63-1-0 and were undefeated (40-0-0) in conference play. In 2007, Collins was named Manitoba Female Athlete of the Year.

Internationally, Collins won five World Championship medals over her time on Canada's blue line: three gold (2000, 2004, and 2007) and two silver (2005 and 2008).

Collins was the fifth overall selection in the first-ever CWHL Draft, where she played one season with the Brampton Thunder (2010-11) before announcing her retirement. Transitioning behind the bench, Collins spent five years as an assistant coach at Mercyhurst University (2011-16), helping lead the program to two Frozen Four appearances. Collins also served as an assistant coach for Canada at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship, winning two silvers (2015, 2017) and then bronze (2018) as head coach.

In 2021-22, Collins was named an assistant coach for the Hungarian National program at both the junior and senior levels before taking over as head coach in 2025.
