PWHL Las Vegas has officially completed their expansion roster by adding forward Abby Boreen from the Vancouver Goldeneyes.
Boreen is the fifth forward acquired by Las Vegas and the first forward Vancouver has lost throughout the expansion process. The Goldeneyes also lost defenders Sydney Bard and Nina Jobst-Smith to PWHL Detroit earlier on in the process.
The addition of Boreen to Las Vegas' roster comes after the expansion team signed Katy Knoll during Phase 4's signing period to bring their total player count up to nine.
Boreen finished the 2025-26 season tied for eighth on Vancouver's roster in points scored with nine. She kicked her season off by scoring the overtime winner in the Goldeneyes' first game of their inaugural season and followed that up with a two-goal game against the New York Sirens five games later.
Having been acquired by Las Vegas, the 2026-27 season will be the fourth team Boreen plays for in her four years in the PWHL. In the league's inaugural season, the forward played for the then-PWHL Minnesota, tallying four goals and one assist in nine games. She then took on a bigger role as a member of the Montréal Victoire, skating in all 30 games of the 2024-25 season and recording a career-high of six goals and eight assists in one year.
Las Vegas and PWHL Hamilton were the two expansion teams that did not reach the 10-player signing cap needed by the end of Phase 4's signing period, thus launching them into a selection process earlier today. With their selection, Hamilton picked forward Peyton Hemp from the Ottawa Charge.
Boreen will now join a Las Vegas forward core consisting of Knoll, Hayley Scamurra, and Maureen Murphy, as well as players picked in the 2026 PWHL Draft by Las Vegas. While Hilary Knight did sign an Expansion Foundational Offer with Las Vegas, reports detail that she will be heading to Detroit via trade once the expansion process concludes.
