Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Alexei Kolosov is is on the way to North America to participate in the remainder of Flyers' training camp, as originally reported by Kevin Kurz and confirmed by Kevin Weekes and Elliotte Friedman.
It was reported earlier this month that Kolosov did not plan to attend training camp and that he wished to remain with Dinamo Minsk of the KHL.
A third-round pick of the Flyers in the 2021 draft, Kolosov spent most of last season in the KHL but came to North America in April and appeared in two games for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. He finished with a 1-1 record with a .885 SV% and 3.03 GAA.
The 22-year-old reportedly grew homesick during his time in the AHL.
This move adds to a crowded, talented young group of goaltenders in the Flyers organization. Samuel Ersson and Ivan Fedotov seem poised to split NHL duties. Carson Bjarnason and recently signed Eetu Makiniemi remain at training camp, while Keith Petruzzelli and and veteran Cal Petersen will also compete for playing time with the Phantoms.
