NHL 24 predicted the score of Washington versus Philadelphia and the outcome was crazy

Continuing with our Game Simulation series, Philadelphia's playoff chances hang in the balance as they take on Washington, another team in the Eastern Conference playoff race. A win for the Capitals and they clinch the final playoff spot in the East.

Even if the Flyers win in regulation against Washington tonight, they need to pray Detroit and Pittsburgh lose their final games in regulation to have a chance at making the playoffs.

NHL 24 predicted the Capitals to get an early lead of 2-0 at the first intermission. The second period was a snooze fest, until Aliaksei Protas scored his second of the game, putting Washington up 3-0 heading into the final frame.

It was evident that the NHL servers kicked in their “Ice Tilt” feature for the third period. Philadelphia outshot Washington 15-5 in the third, scoring four unanswered goals.

Ryan Poehling got the ball rolling halfway through the third, which shifted all the momentum into the Flyers' favor. Atkinson and Konecny each scored to tie the game up before Poehling scored again to complete the incredible comeback for Philly.

This would be an emotional roller coaster if the real-life game played like this. Washington was 20 minutes away from clinching a playoff spot and didn’t even salvage a point.

The Flyers could still make the playoffs with this win if Detroit and Pittsburgh were to lose their last games in regulation. Frank Seravalli has reported that he believes Philadelphia would advance on the sixth tiebreaker between them and Washington.
