The Boston Bruins are now 44 days away from their season opener. Because of this, let's take a look at each player who has worn No. 44 for the Bruins in their history.

    Ron Hoover, C (1989-90 to 1990-91)

The first player to wear No. 44 for the Bruins was Ron Hoover, who did so during the 1989-90 and 1990-91 seasons. In 17 games with the Bruins over that span, he recorded four goals and 31 penalty minutes. Following his time with the Bruins, he played in one more NHL game with the St. Louis Blues in 1991-92, which would be his last at the NHL level.

Glen Murray, RW (1991-92 to 1994-95)

While Glen Murray is more remembered for wearing No. 27 with the Bruins, he wore No. 44 during his first stint with the Bruins from 1991-92 to 1994-95. In 570 games over 10 seasons and two stints with the Bruins, he recorded 230 goals, 191 assists, and 421 points. He was also a two-time All-Star during his second stint with the Bruins.

    Davis Payne, LW (1995-96)

The next player to wear No. 44 for the Bruins was Davis Payne during the 1995-96 season. In seven games with the Bruins that campaign, he recorded zero points and seven penalty minutes. He changed to No. 17 during the 1996-97 season with the Bruins, which would be his last at the NHL level.

    Dean Malkoc, D (1996-97)

Defenseman Dean Malkoc would be the next Bruins player to wear No. 44, as he sported the number during the 1996-97 season with the Bruins. In 33 games that campaign with the Original Six club, he posted zero points, 70 penalty minutes, and a minus-14 rating. During his second and final season with the Bruins in 1997-98, he wore No. 29.

    Dave Ellett, D (1997-98 to 1998-99)

Dave Ellett was the next Bruins player to wear No. 44, as he did during the 1997-98 and 1998-99 seasons. In 136 games over two seasons with the Bruins, the left-shot defenseman recorded three goals, 26 assists, 29 points, and a plus-14 rating.

    Nick Boynton, D (1999-2000 to 2005-06)

Nick Boynton wore No. 44 during the entirety of his six-year tenure with the Bruins from 1999-00 to 2005-06. In 299 games with the Bruins over that span, he recorded 22 goals, 62 points, 84 points, 397 penalty minutes, and a plus-30 rating. He was also named to the All-Star Game during the 2003-04 season, so he was a nice part of the Bruins' blueline.

    Aaron Ward, D (2006-07 to 2008-09)

Aaron Ward was the next Bruin to sport No. 44 for the club, as he did during his entire three-year stint with the team. In 150 games with the Bruins from 2006-07 to 2008-09, he recorded nine goals, 17 assists, 26 points, and a plus-17 rating.

    Andy Wozniewski, D (2009-10)

Andy Wozniewski was the next Bruin to wear No. 44, but he did so for an incredibly short period of time. The left-shot defenseman played in just two games with the Bruins during the 2009-10 season, where he was held off the scoresheet. These would be the last two NHL games of his career.

    Dennis Seidenberg, D (2009-10 to 2015-16)

Wozniewski would not be the only player to wear No. 44 for the Bruins during the 2009-10 season, as Dennis Seidenberg did after being acquired from the Florida Panthers. From there, he would sport No. 44 for the entirety of his seven-year tenure with the Bruins, where he had 23 goals, 117 points, 863 hits, and a plus-54 rating in 401 games. He was also a key part of the Bruins' blueline when they won the Stanley Cup in 2011.

    Rob O'Gara, D (2016-17 to 2017-18)

Rob O'Gara would be the next Bruins player to sport No. 44, as he did during the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons. In 11 games with Boston over that span, he posted zero points, 13 hits, and a minus-4 rating. His time with the Bruins ended during the 2017-18 campaign when he was traded to the New York Rangers with a third-round pick for defenseman Nick Holden.

    Nick Holden, D (2017-18)

Interestingly, Holden would be the next player to wear No. 44 for the Bruins after being acquired by Boston for O'Gara in 2017-18. In 18 games with the Bruins as a rental, Holden recorded one goal, five points, 22 hits, and a minus-2 rating.

    Steven Kampfer, D (2018-19 to 2020-21)

During his second stint with the Bruins from 2018-19 to 2020-21, Steven Kampfer wore No. 44. In 65 games over three seasons with the Bruins over that span, he posted five goals, 13 points, and a minus-1 rating.

    Josh Brown, D (2021-22)

Josh Brown wore No. 44 for the Bruins after being acquired from the Ottawa Senators during the 2021-22 season. In six games with the Bruins as a rental, he posted zero points, five penalty minutes, and 12 hits.

    Dan Renouf, D (2022-23)

Dan Renouf was the next player to wear No. 44 for the Bruins, as he did during the 2022-23 season. In just one game for Boston that campaign, he recorded one hit, two blocks, and a minus-3 rating.

    Henri Jokiharju, D (2024-25)

Henri Jokiharju is the most recent player to wear No. 44 for the Bruins. However, it was for a very short time, as he quickly made the switch to No. 20 after his Bruins debut. Earlier this off-season, Jokiharju signed a three-year, $9 million contract to stay with the Bruins.
