The Boston Bruins have announced that they have recalled defenseman Frederic Brunet and forward John Farinacci from their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Providence Bruins. In addition, forward Riley Duran and defenseman Michael Callahan have been assigned to Providence.
Brunet, 21, was selected by the Bruins with the 132nd overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-3 left-shot defenseman has taken a nice step forward this season with Providence, setting new AHL career highs with five goals, 19 assists, and 24 points in 68 games. He is starting to become one of Boston's most promising prospect defensemen, so all eyes will be on him following this call-up.
Farinacci, 24, has nine goals, 37 points, and a plus-9 rating in 57 games this season for Providence. Now, due to his solid play with the AHL squad, the 5-foot-11 forward has received his first NHL regular-season call-up.
Duran, 23, was called up to the Bruins' roster last week, where he had zero points, six hits, and a minus-1 rating in his first two NHL games. In 58 games this season with Providence, he has 12 goals and 16 points.
Callahan, 25, has one goal, eight hits, 12 blocks, and a minus-5 rating in his first 17 career NHL games with Boston this season. With Providence this season, he has one goal, eight points, and a plus-4 rating.
