Bruins star Brad Marchand discussed his thoughts on the ongoing trade rumors.
The Boston Bruins suffered an ugly 6-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets on Jan. 30. With this, they have lost each of their last two games and have been outscored 13-4 over that span. They also have dropped to fifth place in the Atlantic Division standings.
With the Bruins continuing to struggle, the chatter around them potentially becoming sellers only increases. Several Bruins have come up in the rumor mill but captain and pending unrestricted free agent Brad Marchand is easily the biggest name of the bunch.
Following the Bruins' tough loss to the Jets, Marchand was asked about the trade rumors surrounding the team.
"The only thing we can do is focus day-to-day," Marchand said. They're going to do what they feel is necessary for the team. All we can do is worry about our play. We can't control any decision that is going to be made."
Marchand then had this to say when asked about the rumors specifically surrounding him:
"I'm not really worried about what's being said in the media," Marchand said. "At the end of the day, like I said, they're going to make the decisions for the group that they feel is necessary. I have no control over that, so I'm going to worry about what's going on here. Playing for this group. As long as I'm here on the Boston Bruins, that's all I'm worrying about."
The NHL trade deadline is on March 7. It will be fascinating to see what the Bruins decide to do with Marchand from here, but it's clear that No. 63 is only focusing on helping the team.
