The Boston Bruins returned to practice on Feb. 21, with the 4 Nations Face-Off over. However, Bruins star Charlie McAvoy was absent from practice due to his shoulder injury and infection, which he suffered during the tournament.
With McAvoy going to miss time, Bruins head coach Joe Sacco had a different-looking blueline at practice.
With McAvoy out, the Bruins' new top pairing at practice consisted of Nikita Zadorov and Andrew Peeke. Recent call-up Michael Callahan skated on the second pairing with Brandon Carlo, while Parker Wotherspoon, who has not played since Jan. 30, was on the third pairing with Mason Lohrei.
The Bruins are undoubtedly going to miss McAvoy while he is injured. He is their best defenseman, and it does not get any easier when noting that Hampus Lindholm still has more recovering to do before he can get back into game action.
It will be fascinating to see how the Bruins respond without McAvoy in the lineup during this crucial stretch of the season from here. They play their next game on Feb. 22 against the Anaheim Ducks.
