The 2025 NHL Draft Lottery is officially over, and luck was absolutely not on the Boston Bruins' side. The Original Six club has secured the seventh overall pick of the 2025 NHL Entry Draft.
With this news, the Bruins have dropped the furthest they possibly could have in the draft lottery. There was a 13.5% chance that the Bruins would go from the fifth to the seventh spot, and it unfortunately has come to fruition.
The New York Islanders, who had the No. 10 spot, won the draft lottery and has secured the first overall pick of the draft. The Utah Hockey Club also jumped up from the 14th pick to the fourth pick in the draft.
This is certainly not what the Bruins had hoped for, as it would have been huge for them to move up or at least stay at the number five spot. Yet, on the bright side, they still have a strong chance to land a good prospect with the seventh overall pick. It will be interesting to see who they end up selecting late next month from here.
