Back during the 2022-23 season, the Boston Bruins traded former top prospect Jack Studnicka to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for Michael DiPietro and Jonathan Myrenberg. Studnicka's time with the Canucks was brief, and he had a stop with the San Jose Sharks and is now with the Los Angeles Kings. DiPietro and Myrenberg, on the other hand, remain in the Bruins' system.

DiPietro, 25, has quietly become a very solid prospect for the Bruins since then. Following the move, he posted a .918 SV% in 29 appearances for the Maine Mariners of the ECHL in 2022-23. However, he notably increased his value as a prospect this past season.

DiPietro not only earned a permanent spot on the Providence Bruins in 2023-24 but was also excellent in the process. In 30 appearances for the AHL squad, the Windsor, Ontario native posted a .918 SV% and a 2.51 GAA. Overall, DiPietro formed a strong tandem with fellow prospect Brandon Bussi, and he should not be overlooked.

Given how well DiPietro played this past season, it is fair to argue that he could still have a future in the NHL. While the Bruins also have Bussi and Joonas Korpisalo, DiPietro could make a push for the NHL squad later down the road if he continues to strengthen his play. This past season was incredibly encouraging.

Nevertheless, seeing what kind of season DiPietro puts together from here will be very intriguing. While he will likely be in the AHL, he is trending in the right direction and should create some excitement among Bruins fans.
