Boston Bruins star Brad Marchand is the Original Six club's top pending unrestricted free agent. With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, questions about his future with the Original Six club have come up.
While speaking to reporters, Bruins general manager Don Sweeney shared that the team and Marchand are continuing to have contract extension talks.
It is understandable that the Bruins are still working to find a way to keep Marchand around beyond this season. He is still one of their best players and has spent the entirety of his 16-year career in Boston. However, until a new extension is finalized, trade rumors are still very likely to follow the 2006 third-round pick.
It will be fascinating to see if the Bruins and Marchand can come to terms on a contract extension from here. In 58 games this season, he has 20 goals, 45 points, and a minus-7 rating.
