The Bruins are keeping this defenseman around.
The Boston Bruins have made their first deadline day move, but it isn't a trade. Instead, the Original Six club has signed defenseman Parker Wotherspoon to a one-year, $800,000 contract extension.
Wotherspoon, 26, has been a feel-good story of the Bruins' 2023-24 season. The longtime AHL defenseman has cemented himself on Boston's roster due to his steady defensive play and physicality. Now, he has earned himself a nice little extension because of it.
Wotherspoon will continue to be a solid depth piece for the Bruins' blue line and at a very affordable price.

Wotherspoon has appeared in a career-high 32 games this season with the Bruins, where he has six assists, 54 blocks, 67 hits, and a plus-5 rating. He also spent time with the Providence Bruins earlier this season, posting one goal and five points in 19 games.
