During the off-season, the Boston Bruins signed Elias Lindholm to a seven-year, $54.25 million contract. He had been on the Bruins' radar for multiple seasons, so when he became available in free agency, the Original Six club made sure to scoop him up finally.

It was easy to understand why the Bruins wanted to sign Lindholm. Since the retirements of Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci, the club's center depth was not strong enough. Thus, adding a top-six center in Lindholm made all the sense in the world.

While Lindholm has the potential to be a strong signing for the Bruins, his start in Boston has been incredibly underwhelming. In his first 19 games as a Bruin, he has two goals, nine points, and a minus-1 rating.

Lindholm began his Bruins tenure with two goals and five points in his first three games. Since then, he has recorded just four assists in his last 16 games. He also has not gotten on the scoresheet in each of his last four contests.

Needless to say, things have not gone to plan early on for Lindholm, and he made that clear while speaking to reporters about his play.

"I just haven’t been good enough. Wouldn’t put the blame on something else other than myself. I gotta be better."

Luckily for Lindholm, he still has plenty of time to heat back up. It will be interesting to see if he has a much-needed bounce-back game against the Columbus Blue Jackets from here.
