Bruins Superstar Can Hit Massive Milestone
At the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, the Boston Bruins selected Brad Marchand with the 71st overall pick. Since then, he has become one of the best players in the Original Six Club's history, and he has not shown too many signs of slowing down, even at 36 years old.
Marchand was once again one of the Bruins' top stars this past season, posting 29 goals, 67 points, and a plus-2 rating in 82 games. He also had a solid postseason, recording three goals and 10 points in 11 games.
Marchand remains among the NHL's elite, and he has a fantastic opportunity to hit a massive career milestone because of it. He needs 71 points to reach the 1,000-point mark in his NHL career. Given his strong offensive play, he certainly has the potential to reach it next season if he stays healthy.
If Marchand reaches 1,000 points, he will join some very elite company. Only Ray Bourque (1,506), Johnny Buyck (1,339), Patrice Bergeron (1,040), and Phil Esposito (1,012) have hit at least 1,000 points in a Bruins sweater. This only shows just how incredible of a talent Marchand has been for Boston.
We will need to wait and see if Marchand can hit this major milestone next season from here.
