This Bruins rookie dominated in his first playoff game.
Boston Bruins rookie Johnny Beecher had a postseason debut to remember on Saturday night. The rookie forward scored his first career postseason goal on the Bruins' first shot of the night.
Beecher's goal was a beauty, too, as he one-timed a perfect feed from Jesper Boqvist past Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Ilya Samsonov.
Following the game, Beecher was asked about what went through his mind following the goal, and the 2019 first-round pick gave an excellent answer.
"I blacked out a little bit. I was just kind of in the corner at the glass, and I was just kind of screaming, and the boys were all jumping on me. It’s one I’ll never forget. I was just happy to get the boys going there, get a little momentum in the first period.”
There's no question that Beecher was hyped after scoring this goal. It is also quite an impressive accomplishment, as the young forward scored on his first-ever postseason shift.
However, besides contributing offensively, Beecher was impactful in all areas of the ice. He was excellent on the forecheck and defensively. In addition, his physicality was quite noticeable.
Overall, Beecher played a major role in the Bruins' Game 1 win, as he provided the Bruins with immense momentum early, and it never went away. Let's see what he does for an encore from here.
