Sheldon Keefe called out Max Domi after the Bruins took down the Leafs in Game 1.
The Boston Bruins dominated in Game 1, defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs by a 5-1 final score. This is just what the doctor ordered for the Bruins, as they now have control early in the series.
As expected, the Bruins and Maple Leafs played an incredibly feisty game. These two clubs have a deep rivalry, which has naturally picked up with the playoffs here. The Original Six clubs ended the evening with a combined 100 hits.
However, when it came to the Maple Leafs, Max Domi stood out with his physicality. The agitator created a lot of chaos throughout the night and made it clear from the beginning when he slashed Bruins star Brad Marchand before the puck even dropped.
While physicality in the playoffs is encouraged, Domi lost complete discipline as the contest went on and ultimately contributed to his team's defeat. Domi notably slashed Marchand again in the later stages of the second period and received a penalty for it. Jake DeBrusk scored on the Bruins' power play and gave the club a commanding 4-0 lead. Fittingly, Marchand picked up the primary assist on the goal.
Domi's dirty play helped the Bruins put the game out of reach, and Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe called out the Leafs forward after the game because of it.

"Careless penalties. Domi’s penalty is the one that I would call an undisciplined penalty. I understand what he is trying to do, but he crossed the line there, and you can’t do that."
There's no question that Domi's dirty slash on Marchand was uncalled for, and it's satisfying that the Bruins made him pay for it. The Bruins will now look to build off their momentum and take a 2-0 series lead over Domi and the Leafs on Monday.
